What is BASU?

BASU is a university-recognized advocacy group for both social life and administrative activity as it pertains to Black American descendants of chattel slavery.

Our Purpose

To provide Black American descendants of chattel slavery on campus with a space for the perspective of the Black American identity within the Black diaspora and broader student community at Brown.

Our Execution

BASU hopes to collaborate with other affinity-based Black organizations at Brown in continuing present discussions amongst Black students and catalyzing new ones as they evolve and grow.
